Intensive English Immersion 2012

Do you want to get a taste of real England? That's exactly what our students of summer 2012 did when they came to Winchester on our intensive English immersion course. Here are just a few of the best moments of the course. Take a look!
English teachers and guides Amy and Fran waiting excitedly for the new students to arrive. Come on let's go! It was just and hour and a half from Barcelona airport to Southampton. Then a quick 15 minute ride in a taxi to Winchester and the students were greeted by their hosts in their new home.
Here we are at the welcome dinner during which the students were given one famous British person to research. Who are they and what can you tell us about them? Let's find out at the farewell dinner.
A walk and talk activity and quiz around Winchester warmed us up and introduced everybody to the city. The city is our classroom on our intensive English immersion courses and every single place or person we encounter is an opportunity to learn - speaking only in English!
There are plenty of cafes and restaurants in Winchester to hang out. Here are three students with teacher Amy taking time out after an activity. What did you learn today Irene, Marta and Montse?
Who says British food is bad? Try it out and then try to describe it in English. Here is a typically English dish which is eaten on a Sunday and which contains locally farmed ingredients from the Hampshire area.
Class time in an English garden sipping English tea. Our small closed group classes means that our students were able to take full advantage of the personal attention we gave them.
Like all of our courses, we always encourage our students to meet local people, using their English (of any level!) in real situations with native speakers. Here we are at a party in one of the host's homes.
And here we are on a day out in London, just one of the many activities of our English course in the UK. We are proud to say that all of our students managed to overcome their shyness when speaking English on this day and were quite happy to speak to the native 'Londoners' when asking for directions, advice, making new friends or...well anything at all!
After all of the hard work of the students they were congratulated and awarded with an Immersed English certificate. Their final presentations impressed the audience of around thirty guests at our farewell dinner in The Black Boy pub in Winchester. A round of applause certainly finished this two week English immersion course on a high note. Congratulations everyone!

I would also like to say a big thank you to:
94-year old Bob who offered free conversation classes to our students and a very attentive ear.
Local artist David Keeping for his time, explanations and energy when allowing our students into his studio to view his amazing artwork-in-progress.
All of our hosts who have provided comfortable and friendly homes and spent time time with our students making it feel like a home away from home.
Polly of the Black Boy in Winchester for being so accommodating at every moment.
